AeroChill Evaporative Cooling Technology for Horses

AeroChill cooling products are designed specifically for the equine industry. This product helps improve recovery time, cools body tissue and regulates outer thermal temperature. These cooling rugs use a super absorbent polymer fibre fabric made in a medical grade factory. After 30 minutes the AeroChill products have pulled enough heat out of the legs or body of the horse to accelerate post-exercise recovery.

How It Works

AeroChill evaporative cooling products utilise unique polymer chemistry to achieve rapid absorption and stable water storage. The chemical formulation also creates enhanced evaporation and longevity.

Users can expect the HyperKewl evaporative cooling fabric to provide temperatures that are 15-20°C cooler than the ambient temperature. The exact temperature difference will depend on humidity, exposure to airflow and other environmental conditions.

What Does it Do?

  1. Victoria Smith

Rug results: Tested on an 18 year old Haflinger mare at the Red Dragon ride over the Black Mountains in mid Wales. Competed on 3 consecutive days totalling 126km (42k Friday, 48k Saturday, 36k Sunday) October 2017.

Day1: The Control: The first day I didn’t use the rug, walked for the final mile – final heart rate (after 30 mins) 56 bpm (needs to be under 64 to pass but lower HR goes towards the criteria for obtaining a higher grade and therefore points for the ride).

Day2:, The mare walked/trotted final mile – final heart rate (after 30 mins) 48 bpm – HR was 70bpm 20 minutes after finishing – we walked with the rug on for the final 10 mins

Day3: (tired horse), trotted final mile – final heart rate (after 30 mins) 54 bpm – HR was 86bpm 20 minutes after finishing – we walked with the rug on for the final 10 mins

Over the 6 rides I have completed on Gizmo this year her final HR has never been below 55bpm.
